Cluarankwai Easter Camp 2026
We are excited to announce our first Judo camp since 2019! We hope you can join us on Monday 6th & Tuesday 7th of April 2026 for two fun filled days of Judo, games and activities. Spaces are limited so book now to avoid missing out!
Suitable for Junior players ages 5-13 years old.
Open to Cluarankwai members only!

Drop off and pick up: All kids must be dropped off and collected from inside the building and will be checked in and out by coaches. Earliest drop off is 9:15am and kids should be collected at 3:00pm - there is no late collection.
All our usual classes — including the Monday sessions after the camp — will run as normal throughout the Easter school holidays.

2026 Glasgow Student Teams Championships
Some of our senior players will be taking part in the Glasgow Student Team Championships on Saturday the 18th of April.
Teams are made up of players of any grade in weight categories:
Female: u63kgs, o63kgs
Male: u73kgs, u81kgs, u90kgs, o90kgs
Players from our club will be joined on the team by some French players visiting to take part in the event.
We have a team confirmed and will share any details if a live stream is available for viewing this event.
CPR and Defib Training Course
Date: Tuesday 21st April
Time: 7pm - 8pm
This training is free to all senior club members!
Suitable for anyone looking to learn basic CPR and defibrillator use or as a refresher course if you have completed this course or a full First Aid course previously.
Defibrillator training, including basic life support, will give you the confidence to act quickly and effectively if someone has a cardiac arrest. Delegates will learn how to operate a defibrillator and how to perform effective CPR.
Each year over 40,000 people have an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the UK. Less than 1 in 10 survive. Giving CPR promptly and using a defibrillator can more than double the chances of survival.
The club have a shared access defibrillator which can be found at the rear the Scout Hall across the road from the club and is accessible by a code known by our coaches and accessible to 999 dispatchers.

Managing an emergency
Operating the defibrillator
Resuscitation (CPR)
Role of the first aider
Treatment of an unresponsive casualty

JudoScotland National Male & Female 1st Kyu & Dan Grading (-30 years)
Senior event for brown belt and above.
Hosted at our Dojo this event is run by JudoScotland. This National Kyu and Dan Grading is exclusively for judoka aged 30 and under. Taking place on Sunday 14th June 2026, this event offers grading opportunities for both male and females at 1st Kyu and Dan Grade levels. With options for theory-only, competitive grading, or a combination of both, the day will include formal assessments, promotional line-ups, and a welcoming atmosphere for judoka continuing their journey in the sport.

This competition is aimed at judoka over 30 who either want to gain greater experience competing, want to gain points to progress to their next Dan or both. We also want to welcome international competitors looking to travel for greater experience and to compete against like-minded veteran judoka.

Join us on the 5th of December for the Cluarankwai Judo Club Annual Kids Competition — a fun, relaxed competition environment where young judoka can show off their skills, sportsmanship, and build their confidence! This event is open to all Junior members of the club, grouped by age and grade where possible to ensure fair, encouraging matches.

Kata weekend with Sensei Yoshihiko Iura 8th Dan
Our Saturday junior class will run as normal alongside this event but will be in the small dojo hall instead of the usual main dojo!
Arranged by Judo Scotland and hosted at our dojo.
Sensei Yohihiko Iura is a world renowned kata expert he is a Kodokan coach and 8th Dan. This year he is going to share his knowledge in Nage no Kata and Ju no Kata. If you are interested in kata then this event is not to be missed.
This course is suitable for all senior judoka, it would be advantageous to bring a partner you are comfortable working with to get the most from the course and the wearing of a white judogi is compulsory for kata practice. Any high graded players are asked to wear their black belt during the course to keep in line with course etiquette.

Cherry Blossom 2026 - Jidel Judo
This is a bespoke Judo event run by Jidel Judo Club aimed at beginners or those who are less experienced. For children aged 5,6,7 yrs / 8,9,10 yrs & 11, 12 yrs.
Booking is now closed.
Spectator fee: Adults £3.00 cash or card – Children Free.
Cafe: The venue has a small cafe but it can get very busy so it might be a good idea to pack some drinks and food to bring with you.
Car Parking: There are large car parks at the front and rear of the building which are both free.
Make sure to arrive in time to get changed into your judo trousers to weigh in at the times stated below. Kids must weigh in with judo trousers and a T-shirt on for both boys and girls. Follow Judo Scotland signs for directions to the weigh in area.

2026 The Scottish All Stars Championship
The Scottish All Stars Championship focuses on providing a fun experience that appropriately challenges young judoka at this stage in their development. The aim is to maximise the time on the mat whilst introducing more competitive elements of judo. There are many elements to competitive judo that are beneficial to individuals’ development, from the application of contest rules and the consequence of breaking them to the feeling and coping with ‘pressure’. Most importantly The Scottish All Stars Championship aims to provide positive experiences!
Suitable for Junior players with little or no experience in competition who have not competed at Grand Prix level.
This event is very popular and is likely to get fully booked ahead of the closing date so we encourage individuals to book their space as soon as possible.

Scottish Open 2026
The Scottish Open Judo Championship is set to make a return to the sportscotland National Centre in Inverclyde on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th January 2026, marking an exciting start to the new year. This event is only suitable for players who have experience in competing in multiple Grand Prix events and have previously fought in the Scottish Closed. Speak to coaches before signing up to make sure this competition is suitable for you or your child.

This competition is free to all members!
There will be a £2 admission fee for spectators which can be paid on the day in cash. Under 16's Free.
Raffle and Hidden Mat game tickets with the chance to win various prizes including a new Judo suit will be available for purchase with cash only please try to bring change if possible.

Kai Grade (under 8’s): 1 Minute throw for throw & 1 minute competition first Ippon score wins but contest will continue to allow for more experience on the mat.

Scottish Student Sport - Judo Kyu Grade Tournament 2025
This is a great beginner to intermediate level competition for senior members who don’t have much or any experience at competitions. You will be matched by age and grade where possible to give fair matches and gain valuable experience on the mat!
Eligibility: Open to all senior players Student and Non student who are at least 16 years old and who are 2nd kyu and below, including novice (white belt) grades as long as they have a valid full license on the day.

Keizoku Event – A Fun Judo Experience for Young Judoka!
This developmental Judo event is specially designed for young judoka aged 5–12 years who are just beginning to explore competition beyond their club environment. Whether it’s their very first event or they have limited experience, the focus is on providing a positive, age- and stage-appropriate introduction to competitive judo.
Keizoku is the perfect first step outside of the club environment for young judoka to connect with friends from other clubs, try new challenges, and enjoy being part of the JudoScotland community!
This event is not suitable for players who have competed at Grand Prix Level

The Scottish National Closed Championship 2025

Do you have what it takes to be Scottish National Closed Champion 2025? Scottish Judoka will return to Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facilities for a day of exciting Judo!
The Scottish National Closed Championship is intended to provide judoka with an appropriate level of competition. This event is suitable for those that are at the progression (minors and pre-cadets), developing athletes (cadets & seniors) and athletes stage (seniors) within the JudoScotland Player Development Framework. Please speak to your club coach before entering to ensure this event is suitable for you.
Bonsai 2025
This is a bespoke Judo event organised by Jidel Judo Club aimed at beginners or those who are less experienced in competition. For children aged 5,6,7 yrs / 8,9,10 yrs & 11, 12 yrs.
Entry to this event costs £25.00 and the closing date is Friday 24th October 2025.
This event is not suitable for players who have medalled at Grand Prix Level!

Cluarankwai Halloween Party
All junior members are invited to join us on Friday the 31st of October for our first ever Halloween Party!
Replacing our normal junior class from 7pm-8pm will be an hour of fun, games and sweet treats.
Costumes are welcome no need to wear your Judo suit there will be a prize for best costume.
Please wear a comfortable sport safe costume e.g. no long capes that could cause tripping. Don’t have a costume? Just wear comfortable sports clothing.

Cluarankwai Club Grading October 2025
Our second club grading for 2025 will be held on Saturday the 25th of October.
The usual Saturday Junior class will be cancelled on the day of the grading. Please arrive at the club for 9:30am to complete the check in and warm up before the grading starts.
We ask that members attend on the Saturday for the grading if possible. If you can't make the Saturday session please select the option "other" and speak with one of the coaches to arrange a day to complete the grading.
Seniors do not have to attend on the Saturday as they will complete their gradings during one of the senior classes.
Cost for the grading is £20 for Juniors and £27 for seniors and can be paid on the day in cash at the club.

For ages 3-14 the Clyde Judo Festival is an event for players looking to experience their first competition or gain more competition experience after competing at a club competition. Players will be grouped into pools of 4 or 5 and there will be an emphasis on development and learning.
